Awkwafina was initially an American performer and rapper, releasing sly tracks that tackled issues such as racial and sexual identities with a funny twist. Before expanding into Hollywood the singer could perform a variety of tracks. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants within Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was via the trumpet. After a classical and jazz education She delved into hip-hop as a teen. In her studies, she studied journalism as well as women's studies, and was learning Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. She turned her attention to music once she graduated. After becoming famous on the Internet and her own song My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually was included on the album she released, Yellow Ranger. The other viral hit songs included queef, a body positive track, and the witty NYC Bitchecity tour. The latter track connected directly with another Awkwafina project NYC A travel guide that was released in the year 2015. In addition to having published a book as well, she also worked as a performer. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in movies such as Neighbors as well as Storks. In 2018 she landed breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. That June she issued the EP in Fina We Trust.
